Course learning outcomes
  1. EK1 Student is able to select and apply methods of signal analysis and processing tailored to the application.
  2. EK2 Student is able to apply time-frequency methods of signal analysis.
  3. EK3 Student is able to identify problems with the processing of signal acquired from the real sources.
Programme learning outcomes
  1. Basic knowledge in the field of mathematics, physics and engineering and technical sciences; detailed knowldege in the field of electronics and telecommunications including selected issues from electrical engineering, automation and technical information technology.
  2. Ability to use one's knowledge from the area of electrical circuits, electronic circuits, basics of telecommunications systems, data transmission, signal processing, wired and wireless communication as well as non-technical aspects to design, build, commision and test a telecommunication system.
Programme content Selected aspects of the practical application of signal processing and analysis methods. Selected issues of audio signal processing: spectrum analysis, time-frequency analysis of speech signal (spectrograms), noise reduction methods. Processing of electrophysiological waveforms, removal of electrical grid interference.
Assessment methods
EK1 - EK4 - laboratory reports, observation of activities during classes

Grading policies Laboratory reports (100 %)
Course content LABORATORY Selected topics in digital sound processing: - spectral analysis, timbre; - time-frequency analysis of speech signal (spectrograms); - sound effects (e.g. reverb, "chorus", "flanger"); - fundamentals of sound compression methods; - noise reduction methods. Processing of electrophysiological signals: - ECG, EEG, removal of mains interference.
